| Day Three - August 15, 2007 | ||
| The concierge put us on to a
river tour with an
architectural theme. He proposed that we wait until the mist burned
off and take the noon trip. We asked him what we might do until then and he sent us to a great store named Fox and Obel near the boat dock. The concierge assured us that we could easiy spend an hour there. He was quite right. We had a hot drink and shared a bagel. I did a bit of shopping.

The boat is the "Ft. Dearborn." Her previous passengers are debarking. |
|
| Our tour guide, Pat Kelly, was a wealth of
information. He talked about architectural styles and about the
architects. No one was bored. Not even the kids. |

Chicago has a myriad of architectural styles. The green building is curved with the curve in the river and meant to reflect its surroundings. It is from the contextural school.
| This is the view Pat gets of his passengers. You can see we are all paying attention. |

The river cruise is really the best way to see Chicago's architecture.
